Oh goodness, was I wrong. General Suter was boring and then he started in on some conservative ranting. He spent a bunch of time repeating tall tales about George Washington and leadership; he told the graduates not to change the world or to try and be great; and then he warned the graduates about “culture warriors” and opined that Wall Street Occupiers are “lazy, pampered, malcontents who have several masters degrees and live in their parents’ spare bedroom.” (It’s at 44:10.) WTF?

U.S. Supreme Court Clerk Delivers Commencement Address at Campbell Law School - Campbell Law News - Campbell Law School:

I know nothing about him, but I bet the Clerk of SCOTUS is a decent Moneyball-type choice for commencement speaker - probably has a lot of interesting stuff to talk about it yet is probably not in much demand. I thought it was weird that the press release referred to him as “general,” but it turns out that he actually is a retired major general (cite: wikipedia), so referring to him as general is not the nonsensical title inflation that gets applied to the Attorney General or Solicitor General.

UPDATE: See post above. His speech was a disaster.

Roosevelt University’s new 32-story vertical campus seems kind of crazy to me, but also kind of awesome. Who wants to spend four years of college in the same building? Who doesn’t want to spend four years of college in the same building (especially with the views this one has)? Topian-wise, I’m not sure if it’s dys- or u-.
